Effects of pre-sowing laser stimulation on sowing value of lucerne seeds

Abstract: Seeds of alfalfa c.v. Legend and hybrid alfalfa c.v. Radius were irradiated with divergent He-Ne laser bundle and sown on Petri dishes with four repetitions. Germination lasted for 10 days at a constant temperature 20 ±  1ºC. Seeds germinating normally, abnormally, hard seeds and those infected with pathogenic fungi were determined. The number of seeds germinating normally increased and hard seeds decreased upon laser stimulation.
